Make cream of anything soups right at home! Cream of chicken and mushrooms soups are a popular staple in my house. Easily make your own with less ingredients than the canned stuff!
I am continuing my quest to get heathier by using more natural products and foods in my cooking. You can make cream of anything soups right at home with just a few ingredients! I was shocked to look at the ingredients at cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups and see just how many ingredients are in there!
A few ingredients in these store-bought soups stick out to me right away. There is caramel color added to the cream of mushroom soup. My first question is why? Quickly followed by, what the heck is caramel color made out of?! Another ingredient listed is natural mushroom flavor. Where did natural mushroom flavor come from? Why would that be listed as an ingredient if it was a flavor separate from the mushrooms that are in it?Â
I don’t know about you, but I would much prefer natural colors and flavors in my food!

If you are already making a homemade meal, it only takes a few extra steps and minutes to make a cream of soup to go with your meal. You can have control over the ingredients and feel better about the food you are consuming.Â

Cream of Chicken Soup Ingredients:Â
3 Tablespoons ButterÂ
2 Tablespoons Minced OnionÂ
1 Teaspoon Chopped GarlicÂ
1/4 Cup Flour
 3/4 Cup Chicken BrothÂ
3/4 Cup Heavy Cream (Whole milk works too!)Â
Directions: Melt butter and mix in onion and garlic. Add in flour and combine. Mix in liquids and simmer until it thickens. Add to container and store in fridge for future use or use right away!Â
(For cream of celery soup, add 1/4 cup of celery)Â
Cream of Mushroom Soup Ingredients:Â

1/2 Cup Chopped MushroomsÂ
3/4 Cup Chicken BrothÂ
3/4 Cup Heavy Cream (Whole milk works too!)Â
