DIY Foaming Hand Soap

Save For Later!

This DIY foaming hand soap is so easy to make and leaves out harsh chemicals found in store bought soaps.

It took me several attempts to get this soap right! One of the ingredients missing from homemade soap is chemical thickening agents. My first attempt at making a liquid hand soap was great, but it was very liquidy. The soap ended up spraying all over the place from the dispenser.

Thickening the Soap

I attempted to thicken the soap with a ratio of salt and water but my that failed to give me a better, thicker consistency. I ended up with lumpy, strange looking soap. The remaining liquid sank to the bottom while the salt and water mixture sat on the top. Ultimately, I was unhappy with the result.

Back to the Drawing Board

It dawned on me one day that foaming hand soap has a water-like consistency that is not thickened like normal liquid hand soap is. I figured I would give it one more shot and try to make a foaming hand soap. I had an old foaming hand soap dispenser laying around, so I used that as a tester. I was pleasantly surprised with the results! It worked! I will never go back to store bought now that I know I can make my own foaming hand soap at home!
