An Alternative to Powdered Detergent

Prior to making this recipe, I have been using a DIY  powdered detergent that is easy and affordable to make. The only problem is that my local grocery store has stopped carrying Fels Naphtha, which is one of the ingredients I use to make this detergent. I am participating in a no-spend month challenge, which means I am not spending any extra or unnecessary money or making any extra trips to the grocery store. Which in this case, they are not carrying the product I need at the grocery store anyway! So I needed an alternative since I was all out of detergent!

Natural and Non-Toxic

With a few simple ingredients, you can make a natural and non-toxic laundry detergent that you can feel good about washing your clothes in. There are harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, dyes and fragrances added to your store-bought detergent. I will never go back to store-bought detergents!

Here is what you will need to make this liquid laundry detergent:

Water

Arm & Hammer Washing Soda

Borax

Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid soap (I used unscented but you could use scented if you choose)

Essential Oils (Optional)

Large Stock Pot

Bowl & Utensils for Mixing

Measuring Cup

Container for Detergent

Stuffed Mushrooms with Cream Cheese & Bacon

Low Carb appetizer or side dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Mushrooms
  • ¼ Cup Bacon Bits
  • ¼ Cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 4 Ounces Cream Cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Chives (plus more for garnish)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and place a silpat mat on a baking sheet
  • Clean off mushrooms with damp paper towel and remove stems. Set stems aside.
  • Brush the mushrooms with the olive oil.
  • Chop up mushroom stems and add to bacon, parmesan cheese, cream cheese, garlic, chives, salt and pepper. Combine all ingredients.
