Natural 3 Ingredient Dishwasher Soap

Save For Later!

With just a few ingredients, you can make your own natural dishwasher soap. It costs less and is better for you and the environment!

Much like the other natural alternatives I have replaced in my home, dishwasher soap was just as easy! All it takes to make this is 5 minutes and 3 simple ingredients! The benefits of using natural alternatives are many. Including being better for your health and the environment.

Dishwasher Packets

If you are like most people I know, you probably use the dishwasher packets when running your dishwasher. These little pods are quite convenient. They are premeasured, so all you have to do is pop them in the dishwasher and you are good to go!!

Convenience At A Cost

Convenience at a cost. As far as convenience goes, these pods an A+. They do however, get a failing grade from me as far as health and safety goes. We have all seen stories in the news about pods getting into the wrong hands and being ingested. Additionally, the chemicals in store-bought dishwasher pods cause high concern for the environment.

Whenever moisture touches the pods, they have a tendency to stick together. This has happened to me multiple times. Once when I attempted to pull the two pods apart, one of them burst and the detergent came flying out and landed in my hair. Just imagine if that had landed in my eye!

Homemade made easy!

It can seem overwhelming when considering replacing store-bought products with homemade ones, but it doesn’t have to be! Small changes can make a dig difference! This recipe is so easy and convenient that it seems silly not to make the switch!

Here is what you will need:

  • Baking Soda
  • Citric Acid (I get mine on Amazon)
  • Washing Soda
  • Baking Soda
  • Kosher Salt (Optional, recommended for hard water)
  • Bowl and Utensil for mixing (I would recommend using separate spoonsbowls just for making your dishwasher soap with)

Detergent pods are convenient, yes. But there is great satisfaction in making homemade alternatives. These small changes add up to big benefits for the health of your family, environment and wallet!
